    “Carnival” by Destiny Koestler-Blondeaux

The car ride was long and boring. I couldn’t wait to get to the Carnival. My mom kept blabbering the whole way there. I don’t even know what she was saying. I was staring out the window because there’s nothing much I can do considering I’m only 8 years old.

My eyes widened. There I saw in all red, a giant sign that read Carnival. I jumped out the car. I had to wait for my mom to pay and give me my ticket. When she finally got the ticket she told me to stay by her but my plan was to go explore by myself. It’s no fun always being stuck around a parent.

We got inside and my first instinct was to start running by I knew I couldn’t just yet.

“So what do you want to go on or see first?” mom asked.

“Let’s go on the ferris wheel!” I yelled.

We went over to the ferris wheel and there was already a long line.

“Let’s go somewhere else,” I said.

We walked over the barn. I loved looking at all the animals and I got to feed the goats. My mom wanted to get out of there because she didn’t like the smell, but it didn’t bother me much. My mom was hungry so she wanted to get something to eat. We went to the hotdog stand and we each got a hotdog. We were sitting down and when I was done I told my mom I was going to go to the bathroom which was right across from the hotdog stand. That was my plan to run away and do what I want at the Carnival.

I went out the back way. I wasn’t even worried what how my mom would react. I was thinking she wouldn’t care that much considering she isn’t my biological mom.  I wondered where I should go next. I wanted to go on a wild ride. I skipped around for a bit then came across The Hurricane. Even though I knew it hurt my sides, I wanted to go on it anyway because it was fun.

Good thing the line wasn’t long. I didn’t want my mom to find me anytime soon. I doubt she even noticed. I started running around again to find my next ride. I ran right past the ferris wheel and saw there was only a few people in line. I was definitely going on this since I didn’t have the chance of going on it when we arrived. I loved the ferris wheel. It’s probably my favorite thing at the carnival.

I finally got seated and there it went. I love when it reaches the top and I can see the whole carnival place. I looked around for a minute and there I saw my mom wondering around with is worker. They might be looking for me but I didn’t want to go yet. It was getting kind of dark and all the lights started turning on and it made the carnival look amazing.

I got off the ferris wheel quickly looking around then started running. I then bumped into someone and it was my mom. I was so devastated. She grabbed my arm and started yelling.

“We are leaving right now, you had me searching the whole place for you, and now it’s getting dark and I don’t trust you.” mom said pulling me.

“But mom, the carnival at night is the best,” I whined

“No Abby!” as we walked out the front.

I started crying and was crying the whole time home. I didn’t want to leave. I should of kept running, I thought to myself. I hate sitting at home being bored all the time. Yes, I may be young and I need things to do. I barely have any toys and the toys I do have are boring to me now. It’s just me and my mom, who isn’t even my real mom. Most of the time she’s watching T.V. or on her phone which is something I don’t have and won’t be getting one for a while. She doesn’t even give me a lot of attention so I don’t get my she cared so much I ran away. I may consider running away from home, but I’m not sure yet.
