In the last week of September, the girl’s soccer team competed against Valley Forge High School. The girl’s team traveled to Buyers Field to take home a hard-fought win. Straight from kick-off, the lady Rangers came out hard, setting the pace of the game for both teams.

Seniors Annette Doren and Mallory Zavatchen put constant pressure on the Valley Forge defense from up top, forcing mistakes; Doren was able to get the first goal of the nigh, touching the ball into the net. With a 1-0 lead, the Rangers put in even more effort to make it a better game. Although they were up, there was constant fighting from Valley Forge. Senior Clare Morrissey wouldn’t give up and fought off their speedy forwards.

In the second half, Zavatchen was able to use her speed to outrace Valley Forge’s defense and tap in a goal just past the goalie’s hand.  With the team spirit at an all-time high, the Ranger’s intensity was better than ever. With slick passes up top from Willow Trapp and Helen Fraundfelder, Zavatchen was able to receive the ball at the top of the box to shoot under the crossbar into the goal, making it the third goal of the night.

To end an amazing game, it started to rain, making the game even more exciting. The girl’s varsity soccer team now takes their season record to  8-2, and are on track to having one of the best seasons girl’s soccer has had in years.
