Luke Vanucci Goes Down in History

Luke Vanucci Goes Down in History

What a night! Luke Vanucci, one of the five starters on the Varsity Basketball team, broke the three-pointer record on Feb. 2, 2024. The previous record was for 81 threes in one season, set by Wes Gerhardt in the 2013-14 school year. Vanucci made his 84th three against Valley Forge last Friday, and will continue to grow the Rangers to the top.

During the first quarter of the game, Vanucci was recognized by Rob Slone, the Lakewood Athletic Director, for breaking the school record and received his very own basketball to commemorate his special accomplishment.

Vanucci is very happy about what he has done for the team. When asked about the record, he said “It felt amazing; throughout my basketball career I’ve looked up to be a record holder and I’ve now accomplished my goal.” The Times is sure that Vanucci will continue to grow this record for the rest of the Rangers’ season.
