Fall Music Recommendations

In my opinion, Autumn is the best season, now you may be wondering what this has to do with performing arts. To me, it has to do everything with performing arts; I am a big fan of music, I like almost all kinds. So I want to give you all five song/artist recommendations that have an autumn/Halloween type of vibe to them. Feel free to do a deeper dive on the songs that I recommend to see what they’re about.

So first is a personal favorite; Smoke Signals by Phoebe Bridgers. I love this song because it just sounds really haunting in a way, and Phoebe Bridgers just has an amazing voice.

Secondly is Season of the Witch. This song is originally by Donovan, but there’s a cover from Lana Del Rey that is also really good. I mean this song is an obvious one; it’s really chill and has a really catchy chorus. Once you hear it, it will never leave your head. Also, who doesn’t love the Halloween-y title?

This song is another one of my favorites; it’s called Waking the Witch by Kate Bush. This song is actually really fast and intense, so maybe don’t listen to it if you’re not a fan of intense music. Also, this song is a tad bit scary; one of the main voices in the track is supposed to be the devil, so if you’re sensitive to that kind of stuff, or it scares you, you probably shouldn’t listen to this. I am just a huge fan of Kate Bush and I feel like I would’ve let her down if I didn’t include this song.

Another song that’s a pretty obvious one is Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac. If you know the lyrics to the song, or if you just look them up, I think it’s pretty obvious why it’s on this list. Like Season of the Witch, this song is just really chill and very simple, but in a good way. Stevie Nicks has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard, and if you listen to the lyrics, it quite literally sounds like she’s talking about a witch.

The final song I’m going to recommend to you is another one of my favorites. This song can be about whatever you want it to be about, grieving, loss, breakups, etc. Francis Forever by Mitski is a really good song that starts out really mellow and then towards the end of the song, it transitions into a more grunge-type of sound. I think this song is really good at highlighting the way I feel in fall, and it could possibly do the same thing for you.
