Unfortunately, fall sports are coming to an end here at Lakewood High School, winter sports are just beginning. The girl’s basketball team is in full swing starting this week. Tryouts are Friday, Oct. 21 from 6 p.m to 9 p.m and Saturday from 9 a.m to 12 p.m. The entire program, coaches, and players are all very excited about the upcoming season. 

Varsity Assistant Coach Katie Battaglia stated “I’m very optimistic about this upcoming basketball season! We are ready to compete, win games, and have fun together this year!” The coaching staff has worked very long and hard to make this a great season for the girls. 

Senior Sam Hudak is very confident in her and her team’s abilities this season. She explained, “I’m really excited about this upcoming season. It’s my senior year and I’m looking forward to making a lot of memories with the people I have played with for the last few years. She also explained that she and her fellow seniors have grown up playing together for years and speak for the entire group when she says that this is a very bittersweet season for them.
