As winter steadily approaches, so does basketball season. The Lakewood Rangers boy’s basketball season is set to begin very soon. For the past few weeks, the boy’s basketball team has hosted numerous open gyms. These open gyms are exactly that: open. All are welcome to attend to put some shots up, meet the coaches, or meet the team before tryouts. These sessions take place after school from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. until Thursday, Oct. 27. After Thursday, tryouts begin. The boy’s basketball team hosts two days of tryouts. This season these dates are Friday, Oct. 28, and Saturday, Oct. 29, at Lakewood High School in the gym.

Your boy’s basketball team primarily plays games on Tuesday and Friday nights. So even if you’re not planning on trying out for the team, make sure to come out and support! Friday night games, similar to Ranger football games, more often than not promote a theme for its fans. Whether this is a blackout, whiteout, camouflage, pajama, or holiday theme, it’s always fun to take part in festivities. Additionally, the Lakewood Cheer team will be at the games! There to provide extra entertainment and fun, the cheer team will be present to fight for the Rangers.

So, if you enjoy the sport of basketball, playing Friday night games, and hearing cheers from your Lakewood Ranger Cheerleaders, make sure to go to the last of the open gyms and the tryout dates this upcoming week. And as always, make sure to root for Rangers!
