Lakewood High School varsity football has closed out their 2022 season with, admittedly, not the best end result. The final score in the game against Westlake was 21-51, with Lakewood on the downside. In total, the team played 10 games with only 3 wins.
Senior, Kevin Coffman: “Defensively we were great. We obviously would have some bad plays on defense but we still tried our best all season. We, as any team, have had many injuries and several players were out the whole season. Offensively, we were always trying our best with constant changes to our offensive line and personnel changes but the guys who stepped up helped us in many situations. We had some athletes like Josh Bohurjak, Alex Symons, Eddie Gillick, Jaylen Chappell, and our offensive line who tried their hardest despite injury and week to week problems. Everyone did their best all season and yeah, it was an unfortunate end to the season, but I personally have zero issues with how we played because everyone did their best despite making some mistake due to being a young player, overthinking, etc. We were a playoff eligible team but Westlake just made better plays then us but we shut down the run. They just got us in the passing game. I believe that next year if the team eliminates mistakes like the ones I’ve said before then they can be a good team.”
