French Honors Society

French+Honors+Society

Here at Lakewood High School, we offer a French Honors Society, advised by French teacher Madame Braquet. The French Honors Society is a lot similar to the National Honors Society which we also offer at LHS for students with excellent academics. While these two are similar the only difference is instead of the decisions being made by all teachers like the National Honors Society, all decisions are made by only Madame Braquet.

To be in the French Honors Society, you need to have completed at least three years of French, anything lower will not be eligible, have an A- or better in French for all three years, and have a GPA of at least 3.0 in other classes. In the French Honors Society, you need to do volunteer hours, the volunteering involves peer tutoring, so students in the French Honors Society stay after school every Thursday and do a tutoring sesh.

The French Honors Society has a ceremony every year and they pass this red candle around with a label saying “On est Les Meilleurs.”(We are the best). This ceremony is used as a way to congratulate their accomplishments during the year.
