Samantha Facaros, Food and Restaurants Reporter

With the holidays right around the corner, we are all spending more time with our families which means more family gatherings. But it’s not a party without a freshly baked pan of cookies!

Gingerbread cookies just might be the most popular cookie during the holiday season, and you are likely to have a good majority of the ingredients in your possession, but if not here’s what you will need.

  • Sugar
  • Flour
  • Spices such as ginger and cinnamon cloves
  • Baking Soda
  • Salt
  • Margarine
  • Egg
  • Molasses

This is a pretty short list, right? Well it only gets easier from here, here are the steps!

  1. Preheat the over to 350 degrees (set two tablespoons of sugar aside in a different bowl)
  2. Sift together flour(2 ¼ cup), ginger(two teaspoons), baking soda(one teaspoon), cinnamon(¾ teaspoon), cloves(½ teaspoon), and salt in a bowl (¼ teaspoon).
  3. Cream margarine(¾ cup) and the remaining 1 cup of sugar in a large bowl until the mixture gets light and fluffy. Beat in egg 1 large egg, then stir in molasses(1/4 cup) and water(one tablespoon). Gradually stir the sifted ingredients into the molasses mixture until well combined.
  4. Use floured hands to shape dough into 24 walnut-sized balls. Roll each ball in the reserved sugar until coated. Place cookies 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets, and flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass for a better shape.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, and make sure you switch racks halfway through baking.
  6. Remove from the oven and allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.Just like that, you have a warm yummy treat to share with your friends and family this holiday season!Recipe from: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/17165/big-soft-ginger-cookies/
