Outdoor Track & Field

Outdoor Track & Field

Welcome to the outdoor sports season, Rangers!

One of the most popular ones is Outdoor Track & Field. It is run by Coach Toole, Coach Swiatt, Coach Sparks, and Coach Kerney. Outdoor Track incorporates a whole bunch of different events, including running (distance and sprinting), throwing (discus and shot put), pole vaulting, and jumping (high jump and long jump). These events are very competitive and focus on an athlete’s highlighted skills. You can compete in any event you want and are allowed up to four events per meet. There are endless opportunities and ways students can showcase what they are best at and what they like to do. Outdoor track also prides itself on being a very open and supportive community between teammates and coaches.

The first meeting for signing up for Track & Field was Monday, Jan. 23rd. Interested athletes met in Mr. Sparks’ classroom (A103) and signed up to get papers and information if they were interested.

However if you couldn’t make it, you didn’t know about it, or you weren’t sure whether you wanted to join, all four of the Coaches work within Lakewood High School. Also, the needed papers from the meeting are located in the back of Mr. Spark’s classroom, A103. So if you want to be a part of this team, find any one of them and let them know! They are always open and looking for new members to add to this team. The season is coming upon us all very quickly, so make sure to do this as soon as possible.
