Seven Years of History Club

Calling all history buffs! Have you ever wanted to learn about a historical topic that isn’t taught in school? Do you have any interest in discovering the wackiest, craziest, overlooked and discussion-worthy parts of our world’s history? If any of this applies to you, you may want to consider attending the plethora of History Club’s events and presentations all year long.

History Club at a meeting on Sep. 21, 2023

Started in 2016 by Alex Manaa, History Club has continued to pursue its goal of having students present historical topics that aren’t typically covered in school. Over the years, students have presented a variety of subjects including the Aztec Empire, President Ford’s assassination attempts, the anti-Feminist movement, gay cowboys, Russia and Ukraine, sharks, urban planning, the Cleveland Mafia, The Great Molasses Flood and more.

Dr. G has been the advisor of History Club for the past seven years. This year, co-presidents Leah Campbell and Edie Barcelona will help lead the club, along with publicist Anna Maurer.

The History Club will have its first public event of the year — a presentation on the History of Lakewood — at the Lakewood Public Library on Oct. 1 at 7pm. We hope to see you there!
