Are you interested in photography? The Photo Club’s first meeting will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 15 in room B206 from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. The club is advised by Dayna Hansen, who also teaches Photography 1 and Photography 2 in addition to other art classes. First meeting during the 2021-2022 school year, the Photo Club was started to give students more opportunities to hone their photography skills.

Students will take their photos either on their phones or a provided digital camera. Hansen says that they take photos around the community and projects include prints and holiday-themed shoots. This month, they will be working on a collage. The club usually meets for an hour after school once or twice a month.

Dayna Hansen says that her favorite part of photo club is “The enthusiasm of the students and the community of students are very open and welcoming. It’s a warm, fun place where they can express themselves and their personalities. They can also become better leaders in smaller groups.”

Olive Rodemann, president of the Photo Club, says “We do a lot of really interesting projects in the club that you wouldn’t do in an average photo class. Last year we did cyanotypes and we were planning on doing a trip to the Lakeview Cemetery which we likely do this year. There are a lot of creative people that go to the club and there isn’t much we do in the club that you could find in a conventional art class. The main focus is experimentation and having fun!”

If you are interested. feel free to attend the club’s next meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 15. If you have any more questions, email Dayna Hansen at [email protected]
