“Song of the Shadows”

Ballad

The sun has set and dusk is here,

To lead us into night.

The moon gleams brightly o’er the fen,

To wash away thy fright.

O’ those who listen turn thy ear,

To I who’s bathed in light.

And listen to the tales I’ll pen,

Should I live through this night.

The dark comes and fills me with fear,

Of wicked ghouls and wights.

For I have stepped into their den,

They greet me with a sight.

O’ those who listen please come near,

To this here globe of light.

Listen to my wisdom again,

Escape the demon’s spite.

My plight has gotten quite severe,

And demons take delight.

No knells be never heard by men,

For my soul shall take flight.

O’ those who hold this man’s life dear,

Come o’er to this here site.

Let priests and deacons say amen,

For I, swallowed by night.
