How to join Home Alone Organization

How+to+join+Home+Alone+Organization

Most students know what H2O is at Lakewood High School, but most have never heard of the program called Home Alone.

Home Alone is an extension of H2O that teaches kids about the responsibility of being home alone. As well as walking through different scenarios that could occur, and what actions should be taken.

The most recent meeting was held at Cove Community Center, where the Home Alone leaders gave a presentation to kids ranging from elementary to middle school students. During this presentation, they learned how to feel safe at home through hands-on activities. They also did some situation-based activities in which they were given scenarios in the event they were left at home.

Students who join Home Alone are able to connect with other students of all ages, while still educating younger students on how to be reactive while being home alone. “I like connecting with the kids and teaching them to be safe on their own,” states Emily Potazack, a senior who has been involved in H2O since her freshman year. Another senior, Sara Viserta, states “Being a part of this community has made me feel like I made an impact on my community.” Sara has been a part of H2O for about two years.
