“The Senators” – Sonnet
The Senators scheme behind every scene,
Each is a knife awaiting a victim,
When together, they become a machine,
They don’t see the effect of the dictum.
They bicker and fight for months without end,
The Senators have no sense of order,
Any rule that they can, they try to bend,
They revel in their stealthy disorder.
Roman Republic fell to this very cause,
We Americans must give this great pause.
