Our Lakewood High School class of 2022 graduation will be occurring on May 27th and will take place in the civic auditorium at 6 pm. Our cap and gowns are purple, the NHS stole is light blue, different cords for different accomplishments. With all these, (tacky) colors coming together on graduation it can be hard to determine what to wear under the robe. It is tradition to wear white, however, not mandatory, but most dresses worn that day will be white.

It is completely up to you what colors you wear, but it is important to appear professional, graduation is the culminating event of your academic career. For some, it marks the last day of enrollment as a student at any institution.

As mentioned earlier, the cap and gown are a bright purple, and they come down to midcalf length, so heels, sneakers, dress shoes, or shoes on the shorter side will complement the length well, certain boots or taller shoes would clash with the length of the gown. Since it should be warm (but who can really be sure given the unpredictable nature of Cleveland weather) and the gowns are long-sleeved, most would find maximum comfort in short sleeves or no sleeves at all.

The gown will be closed for the entire ceremony and a majority of photos, so the most important part of your graduation look is your hair, shoes, and a well-secured cap.
