Nicholas Ferrone is a senior at Lakewood High School and a front runner on the LHS Swim Team. He has been a dedicated member of the team for four years, competing varsity and excelling in his high school career as a swimmer. At their last meet the LHS Swim & Dive team competed against 8 other teams. The Lakewood Boys team won third overall. Nick triumphed in this conference meet, winning sixth in the 100 freestyle and second in the 200 freestyle. Along with these victories, Nick’s relay (composed of himself, Junior Colman McGuan and Seniors Evan Gainous and Preston Polen) took first place in the 400 freestyle and second in the 200 freestyle.
In addition to swim team and school, Nick has also worked part time at multiple jobs, such as Sephora at Crocker Park and Dairy Queen. Nick also pursues his interest in photography. He has recently become a vegan in an attempt to better his health and the environment. It is a struggle to balance all of his activities and interests, but hard work and dedication allows Nick to succeed as a swimmer and still maintain a normal life.
Nick plans to attend Cleveland State University next fall. His major is currently undecided but he is excited to graduate from Lakewood High School and start on whatever career path he chooses.
“Swim team is like a family to me and I am so sad to be leaving them next year. I know everyone on the team will continue to evolve into better athletes and people in the years to come.”
