Mrs. Brenda Allen is a well-known face to Lakewood High School. Generally, everyone should know her as the one handing out temporary ID’s early in the morning. Or, the cool lady who walks down the hallways, and a staff member you can definitely tell your all to.
Mrs. Allen started off her career at Lakewood High School working as a hall monitor for two years. Then, she went on to become a security guard for the next five and a half years. Finally, she landed herself the role as a paraprofessional and working as a study hall director. In total, Mrs. Allen has worked at Lakewood High School for 22 and a half years. Her favorite part about working at the high school is the fact that every year she gets to meet new students, staff, and faculty members.
However, she has been in Lakewood for a really long time. Mrs. Allen has been living in Lakewood for 35 years. Fun fact: she’s actually been in the same house and with the same house line number for all 35 years. Her favorite part of the city is the fact that it is convenient; you can get to and from places by walking or by taking the bus. Over time, though, she did mention that she has noticed a bunch of changes to the neighborhood. She did mention that she also had family members graduate from Lakewood High School: two sons and two grandsons.
Looking into the Mrs. Allen’s past involves the old building. When asked how she feels about it going down, she said it made her really sad. Her favorite part about it overall was the “little nooks and crannies that you could hide in.” She feels indifferent about the new building, and feels “so-so” about it. Although, she did make sure her opinion of the new cafeteria was put in saying,”I hope they finally start selling better food.”
Her advice to all? “Study and go forth,” she says while laughing.
