Edgewater Beach is known to be one of the cleanest beaches in Ohio right now. But with all the recent rain and storms, the sewer district’s sewage plants have become completely filled and have begun to overflow into the waters of Lake Erie, causing an advisory to be sent out. People with poor health or compromised immune systems shouldn’t go in the water anytime soon. This sewage can make you sick and is known to be the biggest flaw of Edgewater Beach. This is a major environmental issue in Cleveland, Ohio because the sewage-infested water can make the many people who swim in Lake Erie very sick.

The beach itself has been kept in great condition, even while the water has not been. There is little to no trash hidden in the sands and the new playground is clean and open to the general public. The pier is open and the walking trails are nice and ready to be used. Edgewater Beach is known to be one of the cleanest beaches in Ohio and to have the cleanest water compared to the rest, but is notorious for sewage overflow after heavy rain. It’s still a beautiful beach and is the cleanest it’s been in a while, so even if it is not recommended to swim, it’s still nice to go and lay out in the clean sand.
